The Netflix Animation Studios Casting team is looking for a seasoned and creatively driven Manager, Casting for our original animated feature films. In this role, you will support the Casting Director on an assigned set of titles, working closely with filmmakers and production teams to discover, track, and coordinate the voice talent that brings our characters to life.

As the Manager, Casting you will also be responsible for fielding auditions and submissions, building relationships with agents, managers, and actors, and mentoring members of the Casting team. In collaboration with the VP, Casting you will also help shape casting ideas across the slate.

About The Team:

The Animated Film Casting team partners closely with filmmakers and production to identify the voices that bring our characters to life. Across the slate, the team sources and auditions talent, curates reels and shortlists, and manages relationships with agents, managers, and actors. They help guide each project’s casting process from early exploration through final selections, ensuring timelines stay on track while honoring the creative vision of the filmmakers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Casting Support & Coordination
  • Title Support: Support the Casting Director on an assigned set of feature animation titles, working alongside filmmakers, producers, and production management to keep casting moving from character breakdown through final booking.
  • Creative Input: Bring thoughtful, character-driven casting ideas across multiple titles, and present options with clear rationale to Directors and Producers.
  • Shortlists & Reels: Review self-tape submissions and put forth selects for Casting Director input. Source audio clips from existing performances, interviews, and reels that best show an actor's range and character fit, edit them into polished casting reels tailored to specific roles and titles, and compile shortlists in a clear, professional format.
  • Production Partnership: Communicate casting updates clearly to production, production management, and other internal teams, and keep casting timelines and deal statuses current.

Talent & Industry Relationships:

  • Agent & Talent Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for agencies, managers, and independent actors on auditions, callbacks, availability, and session bookings. Manage talent relations with professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity.
  • Deals & Clearances: Track start paperwork, credits, and deal statuses, and flag SAG-AFTRA considerations and clearances so they are handled accurately and on time.
  • Talent Discovery: Track emerging and established performers across animation, live action, stage, and international markets, and share knowledge of diverse talent pools to broaden casting options.

Team Captain:

  • Auditions & Recording Sessions: Oversee audition materials (breakdowns, sides, reference clips) and coordinate session logistics with production and internal partners, including script distribution, NDAs, studio bookings, remote recording, travel, and hospitality.
  • Records & Mentorship: Oversee casting grids, talent databases, casting notes, and session reports, and mentor associates and coordinators in their casting and creative judgment.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in casting, talent representation, or production in film, television, animation, or games, including experience leading projects or people. Voice casting and animation production pipeline experience preferred.
  • Industry Acumen: An established network among talent agencies, management companies, and casting offices, with a track record of sourcing talent and a high comfort level working with filmmakers and senior executives.
  • Business & Deal Acumen: Working knowledge of SAG-AFTRA considerations, start paperwork, and talent representation, with strong organizational discipline. Familiarity with casting software or databases preferred.
  • Creative Judgment & Passion: A strong ear for performance, tone, and character authenticity, and a demonstrated passion for storytelling, character, and performance, especially in animation.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and diplomatic approach with agents, talent, and internal teams, and the ability to present casting options clearly to directors and producers.
  • Judgment & Autonomy: Sound independent judgment and calm, solutions-oriented problem-solving. Sets priorities, manages multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders at once, pivots quickly as schedules shift, and handles confidential information with discretion.
  • Inclusivity: A commitment to inclusive, representative casting and respectful engagement with talent from diverse backgrounds.
  • Tools: Core: Adobe Audition or Pro Tools (or similar), Adobe Premiere (or similar), Adobe Acrobat, Final Draft, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Slack, and SAG clearance. Frequent: Audio Hijack, Photoshop and Illustrator, Zoom. Bonus: Dropbox, Lala.AI.
